Your Thoughts

To be sure that we are able to create a book for Silvanos's family that exhibits the breadth and depth of Silvanos's impact upon each of us we have changed the "due date" for your reflections to the 12th of January. We hope this will give you a better amount of time to reflect, compose and share your personal thoughts.

You can still send them along to jesseabroad@hotmail.com
Asante sana.

Gathering in Montreal on 3 January 2008

We will be gathering at McGill campus at 12 noon on 3 January at Birks Heritage Chapel to formally honor our friend Silvanos.

Date: 3 January 2008
Time: 12 noon
Location: Birks Heritage Chapel
The Henry Birks Building
3520 University Street
McGill University
Montreal, Quebec H3A 2A7

On the evening of the 3rd there will also be an opportunity for those who want to get together to celebrate Silvanos in a more informal setting. This will start at 5pm and run into the evening.

Date: 3 January 2008
Time: 5pm on
Location: The home of Alec Milne and Ros Patrick;
4152 Boulevard St. Laurent (just south of Rachel)
; buzz number 402

I wish that there was some way for all of us to be together, but I know that we will all be there in spirit. In addition, it is likely that there will be opportunities for many of us to gather in the future (both formally and informally), and I hope that those of you who are unable to come to Montreal on the 3rd will be able to attend these later events.

On the 3rd we plan to share more information regarding how to support Silvanos's family and all of his good works. All of that information will also be posted on this site.

With my support and peaceful wishes, Bridget

Your Reflections UPDATED

We want to be sure that everyone has enough time to reflect, compose their thoughts in regard to how important Silvanos was to all of us. We will have a book for all who attend the gathering on the 3rd in Montreal to sign, but can extend the time you have to put your thoughts together for a more in-depth reflection until the program goes over to Kenya on the 12th.

As you think about what you would like to share with Silvanos's family, here are a couple of ideas which you can use to get started:

1. One thing I would like to thank Silvanos for...

2. The event or attribute I will remember most about Silvanos....

Brief responses (~75 words) to these topics (both or one of them) would be great! Feel free to add anything else that you feel appropriate.

Please email your pieces about Silvanos to Jesse by the 12th of January.

Your Thoughts for Silvanos's Family

Silvanos with his wife Seline Achieng, his daughter, Antonette Amondi Otieno, and his son, Ronnie Odhiambo.

Jesse Jenkinson from the CFSIA 2007 group is putting together a book that will share our love for Silvanos with his family. She would like you to send any comments, stories, memories of our wonderful warm friend so that his family knows how important he was to his Canadian family. It would be great if you can get them to her by Jan.1. She will use pictures from facebook, but if you have any additional photos please feel free to send them along too. Her email address is:

home base

Good Morning all,

As we attempt to understand the loss of our friend Silvanos, we thought it appropriate and helpful to try to have one site where information about gatherings, remembrances and how to support Silvanos's family, his work, and each other can be viewed.

If you would like to post something on this site, you can either do so by making a comment, or by emailing information to bridgetmeigs@gmail.com and I will post it on the blog.

With much warmth and support,
Bridget
